Live view and team performance

What a supervisor can do from the office: watch every connected device and drive as it is worked on, start tests and wipes without walking to the bench, and see how each technician is doing.

In short

The short version

  1. 1Open Live. Live Devices lists every device connected right now, with its technician and status. It updates by itself.
  2. 2Live Drives lists the drives in those devices, with wipe progress as it happens.
  3. 3Tick devices to Start Diagnostics or a Stress test on all of them at once. Tick drives to wipe them.
  4. 4A wipe started from the dashboard can only be stopped at the station. Plan remote wipes with that in mind.
  5. 5For each person, open Technicians and click View KPIs: devices, pass rates, rework, wipes, shifts and more.
  6. 6Technicians see only devices they have worked on, and only their own numbers. Admins see everyone.

Live Devices
Everything connected, right now.

Live is near the top of the dashboard menu. Its first tab, Live Devices, shows every device that is connected to a station at this moment. A device appears the moment it connects and drops off when it disconnects. You don't need to refresh. The badge at the top right says Live Connected while updates are flowing.

  • Counts at the top: Connected, Testing, Wiping, Burn-in and Idle.
  • For each device: make and model, client, serial number, CPU, RAM and storage, the technician (admins only), and what it is doing now.
  • Search by serial, make or model. Admins can also pick one technician from All Technicians to see only their devices.
  • Click a row to open that device's page.

Devices running a stress test also show on Burn-in, with average progress, the peak temperature and whether any device is throttling.

Live Drives

The second tab lists the drives inside every connected device. The drive each station runs from is never listed. For each drive you see the model, serial, the device it is in, size, type, wipe status and a progress bar while it is being wiped.

  • Counts at the top: Connected Devices, Total Drives, Previously Wiped and Not Yet Wiped.
  • Refresh All asks every connected station to read its drives again, for example after you plug in a new one.
  • Progress updates as the station works: erasing, then verifying.

What you can start from the office
Only on devices that are connected now.

The dashboard sends the command to the station, and the station does the work exactly as if the technician had clicked it there. You see the result as it happens on Live and on the station screen.

ActionWhereWhat happens
Start diagnosticsLive Devices: tick devices, then Start Diagnostics. Or Diagnose on a device's page. The station runs its diagnostic tests. From Live, a confirm window lists the devices first.
Start a stress testLive Devices: tick devices, then Stress test. Or the Burn-in tab on a device's page. You choose the same settings as a workflow's stress step. Each selected device runs them. A device refuses if the total time is too short for its parts.
Stop a stress testThe Burn-in tab on a device's page: Stop. The run ends now. The device gets no full stress test result.
Wipe drivesLive Drives: Wipe on one drive, or tick several and Start Wipe. Or the Storage & Wipe tab on a device's page.A confirm window shows each drive, serial, size and device. Auto (Recommended) picks the method the same way as at the station. See Data wiping.
Read the drives againRefresh All on Live Drives, or Refresh on the Storage & Wipe tab.The station lists its drives again. Nothing is written.
End sessionsLive Devices: tick devices, then End sessions.Marks their current sessions as finished on the server. Nothing is sent to the devices.

The station keeps all its own safety checks. A remote wipe still refuses the drive the station runs from and your protected drives.

What only the station can do

  • Stop a wipe. The dashboard has no stop button for a wipe. Someone at the station clicks Stop wipe.
  • Re-verify a failed wipe. That is in the station's History.
  • Finish a device and grade it. Grading and Finish device happen at the bench. See Processing a device.

Stations running an automatic workflow refuse remote starts

While an automatic run is working through its steps, the station refuses dashboard commands that start diagnostics, stress tests or wipes, with the message Automatic run in progress. Press Stop to take over. The run already does those steps. Once it is waiting for grading, the station takes commands again.

Who can do what

RoleOn LiveRemote actions
AdminEvery connected device in the organisation, with a technician filter. On any device in the organisation.
TechnicianOnly devices they have worked on (had a session on).Only on those same devices. The server refuses the rest.
ViewerEvery connected device.None. The server refuses every command from a read-only role.

Roles are set per person in Technicians. See Getting started.

One device, and its history

A device's page (click it on Live, or search its serial in Devices) updates live while the device is connected. Its tabs are Overview, Diagnostics, Burn-in, Hardware, History, Sessions, Storage & Wipe and OS Imaging.

To look back over time rather than at one device:

  • Devices: every device processed. The Tested tab shows the finished ones.
  • Sessions: each time a device was worked on, with the technician, when it connected, how long it took, and its tests and results. Filter by serial, or show Active Only.
  • Test History: every diagnostic test result, with the technician who ran it.

Team performance
Admins.

  1. 1Open Technicians, under Administration.
  2. 2On the person's row, click the chart button (View KPIs).
  3. 3The Technician Performance page opens with that person's numbers.

Most numbers cover the last 30 days, counted from when each session started. Recent Activity, the shift cards and Wipe Throughput cover the last 7 days. Some cards stay hidden until there is something to show.

A device counts toward a person when they had a session on it. If two people worked on the same device, it counts for both.

What each number means

On the pageWhat it counts
Total DevicesDevices this person had a session on.
Completion RateOf those devices, the share whose status is now complete.
Test Pass RateTest results in their sessions that passed, out of all test results in their sessions.
Avg Time/DeviceThe average length of their finished sessions. Sessions over 24 hours are left out.
Wipes PerformedWipes in their sessions. Underneath: drives wiped (completed) and how many of those passed verification.
First-Pass YieldDevices they worked on in exactly one session. A device that needed a second session is not first pass.
Avg Tests / DeviceTheir test results divided by their devices.
Session StatisticsSessions in total, finished, still open, and their average length.
Test StatisticsTests run, passed, failed and warnings. Error Rate is failed tests out of all tests. Avg Test Duration is the average time per test.
Recent Activity (Last 7 Days)Sessions Started, Devices Processed, and Devices/Day Average (devices divided by 7). The bar chart shows devices per day.
Team Avg DevicesDevices the whole organisation worked on in the last 7 days, divided by the number of people who had a session in that time.
Grade DistributionGrades this person gave by hand. Automatic grades are not counted.
Quality MetricsReworked Devices: devices that needed more than one session. Failed Devices: devices whose status is failed. Plus wipes completed and drives wiped.
Shifts Logged, Avg Shift DurationA shift runs from a PIN sign-in at a station to the next sign-out. Shifts under 1 minute or over 24 hours are left out.
Devices / ShiftDevices in the last 7 days divided by shifts in the last 7 days.
Diag Completion RateDiagnostics they finished, out of diagnostics they started.
Retest RateTest results that were run more than once, out of all their test results, and the average number of runs.
Avg Turnaround TimeFor their devices that are complete: the average time from intake to completion, with the shortest and longest. Over 30 days is left out.
Wipe ThroughputGigabytes of drives they wiped successfully, the average minutes per drive, and gigabytes per hour of shift.
Manual Test QualityKeyboard: share of keys tested, failed keys, time. Display: patterns viewed, dead pixels found, time. Trackpad: share of buttons tested, time.
Test Speed BreakdownAverage time for each type of test.

Read these as indicators, not a score

Several numbers describe the device, not only the person. Completion Rate and Avg Turnaround Time follow the device to the end of its process, even if someone else finished it. A device with a faulty part lowers the pass rate of whoever tested it.

Strengths and areas for improvement

At the bottom, Performance Summary lists strengths and areas for improvement. Each line appears when a number crosses a fixed line:

Strength whenArea for improvement when
Completion Rate 80% or moreCompletion Rate below 60%
Test Pass Rate 85% or moreTest Pass Rate below 70%
2 or more devices a day (last 7 days)Average session over 2 hours
First-Pass Yield 90% or moreFirst-Pass Yield below 70%
Wipe success 95% or moreWipe success below 90%, with at least one failed wipe
Retest Rate under 10% (over 10 tests)Retest Rate over 30% (over 10 tests)
Keyboard key coverage 95% or moreKeyboard key coverage below 80%

What technicians see of each other

  • Devices: a technician sees only devices they have worked on, on Live, in Devices and in Test History. If two technicians worked on the same device, both see it, with all its results.
  • Sessions: a technician sees only their own sessions.
  • Performance: the Technicians page is for admins only. A technician can't open anyone else's performance page; the server refuses it. The only team figure on a person's own page is the team average.
  • Admins see everything. Viewers see every device on Live and in Devices, but can't change anything.
